10TH ANNUAL THE NEW MEXICO FIREFIGHTERS EVENT FOR THE ST. BALDRICK’S FOUNDATION

HELD AT SANTA ANA STAR CENTER ON MARCH 13

(Rio Rancho, NM, March 9, 2016) – The 10th Annual New Mexico Firefighters event for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation is set for March 13th from Noon to 4:00 p.m. at Santa Ana Star Center. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation event helps raise funds and awareness of cancers that target children. The funds raised go to provide researchers the financial resources they need to find cures for cancers that affect children. The goal is to raise $65,000 this year to help fund research efforts through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Since the humble beginnings of this event, firefighters have helped to raise $313,140 to help the kids.

The event will feature the public shaving of heads – including firefighters, police officers, EMT’s, and public participants of the event- bag pipe bands, fun activities for adults and kids, live and silent auctions, food, firefighter demonstrations, fire apparatus and classic car displays, all under one roof in a family-friendly atmosphere.

“There are many ways in which the general public can get involved in the event, and be a hero for kids with cancer,” said Jessica Duron- Martinez, Fire Inspector/Fire Investigator of Rio Rancho Fire Rescue. “Join this St. Baldrick’s event, and whether you decide to shave your head, volunteer, or donate, we hope you’ll be part of the excitement! Providing critical support for kids with cancer are the reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities.”
