Perico’s – Update
Happy Friday folks! I hope everyone is gearing up for a cold, and possibly wet, weekend. I’m looking forward to sitting in front of the fire with a cup of hot chocolate (or a big ol plate of tacos – whichever one I can get my hands on first!)
Some of you might remember my Perico’s review from last month. Well, I simply had to go back, just to make sure that my previous experience was actually as amazing as I remembered. Let me tell you, it was even better this time around. How I had never been to Perico’s before now is just beyond me, and quite frankly, I’m very unimpressed with myself. I love this place! If only there was a location closer to my neck of the woods (Northeast Heights, in case the owner of Perico’s happens to read this). I would probably be there every day of the week. And if you’re only hearing about Perico’s for the first time now, I’m giving you permission to leave your job right this minute and head on over to either one of their fine locations. And if you could bring me some shredded beef tacos while you’re out, I would really appreciate it. Thanks folks!
Hello, all! So, as some of you may have realized, there are TONS of New Mexican restaurants that had never been on my radar until recently. Thank goodness for my lovely coworkers, as they have introduced me to some of my favorite restaurants that have just been hiding in plain sight, all of this time.
The latest restaurant that I’m adding to my list of favs is Perico’s. Wow. Just wow. I joined a friend there last week for lunch, and it was so delicious I almost ordered more for the road. We ordered the shredded beef tacos, and I got chips and salsa on the side. Now, I’m a major salsa fan. And for me, “the hotter the better” is my motto. Folks, this salsa was HOT! I was so pleasantly surprised. And I drenched my shredded beef tacos in it, too, which was a wonderful idea if I do say so myself. The taco shells were crisp and fresh, and the shredded beef was extremely flavorful and juicy. I definitely needed more than a few napkins! They were just delicious. And the prices were incredibly reasonable. I would recommend calling in your order because that place was jam packed! If only Perico’s delivered! If they did, I could live the rest of life surviving on tacos and salsa, no exaggeration. Apparently, they’re known as the “Home of the ½ Pound Burrito”, and if that burrito is anything like their tacos, then I’d have zero problems scarfing down the entire thing. Perico’s has been locally owned and operated since 1982, which also happens to be the year of my birth. This fun fact makes me think that Perico’s and I are totally food soulmates.
I highly suggest you drop whatever gifts you are wrapping and rush over to Perico’s. You will not be disappointed. I’ll be the one sitting at a huge table, surrounded by tacos.
