O’Neills: Irish Fare in the 505

Last Friday we found one of our new favorite restaurants. After much deliberation and back and forth about where should go to an early Friday night dinner, we finally decided on O’Niell’s on Juan Tabo. We had previously been to the Nob Hill location for drinks and appetizers, which were great, but this was our first time at the eastside location. And boy, were we pleasantly surprised by how fantastic it was! I ordered the Steak and Boxty and my husband ordered the Boxty Rueben, and both were absolutely amazing. The Boxty is this great mix of Irish potato and scallion, which paired famously with my steak (which was cooked perfectly at medium). I ate every last bit of it! My husband loved his Boxty Rueben and even ate his leftovers as a midnight snack later that night. Oh, and did I mention the Chile Cheese Fries?? Talk about cheesy Heaven on a plate. The chile was spicy enough for both of our New Mexican trained palates, and the cheese was melty and rich, while the fries were crispy and fresh. Of course, because O’Niell’s is an Irish pub, they have a fantastic selection of beers and hard liquor. Our drinks paired perfectly with our dinner choices, and we could not have enjoyed ourselves more. In fact, the very next day, we were tempted to go there for dinner again! We held back, though. But I know where we will be going for dinner this Friday! We’ll see you there.
