(September 15, 2016)—For a long time, I had driven by Mick’s Chile Fix, but had never had the time to stop in—until recently. I was hoping I could get my “Chile Fix”, and yes, I did.
Naturally, I go for Christmas chile on my meal, so I did. I ordered the “The Hungry Man’s Breakfast” (Not Photographed), which was the standard hash browns, eggs, bacon and a pancake. I figured I could make my own huevos rancheros, and have the pancake to sponge up the red and green chile on the plate.
Although they forgot to smother my plate (Not Photographed), the waitress took my plate back to the kitchen and had them pour some red and green chile over the top of my, just off the stove, “hungry man’s breakfast”.
I usually judge the chile by how hot it is and secondly, how flavorful it is and boy-oh-boy did they have some good chile. Although the red didn’t have too much heat, the flavor was impeccable, and the green, well, it was over the top and delicious. Just what I was anticipating.
My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach in this particular instance, and I was able to reheat the leftovers the next morning with two brand new eggs over the top. Equally as delicious as when it was made fresh.
Mick’s Chile Fix is certainly a place that I’ll return. The service is fast and friendly and the prices are remarkable. If I lived closer, I would probably eat at Mick’s a few times a week. Yes, it’s that good.
So, if you’re ever in the area, you should definitely stop in. The food is traditional and delicious! Their menu, hours and directions are below.
