(April 5, 2016)—Albuquerque, New Mexico—Talk about Albuquerque’s best kept secret. I had heard for years about a small New Mexican restaurant in the heights that had incredible food, but I didn’t think it could be this good. From the moment the friendly wait staff brought that first bowl of green chile salsa (served warm) with fresh tortilla chips, I knew this place was something really special. And you better believe they were right there with a second bowl of salsa as soon as the first one was gone (which only took about 10 seconds).
From the chile rellenos (voted best in ABQ), to the rolled cheese enchiladas, to the blue corn enchiladas with beef and sour cream, this place is a real gem. In fact, one week I went to La Salita twice, two days in a row. It’s that good. The staff is always friendly, the food comes out fast and as fresh as can be, and the quality of their ingredients and attention detail let you know that the folks at La Salita really care about their restaurant and the product that the customer gets. Oh, and if you can save room for a sopapilla (which is next to impossible), then you will not be disappointed. Talk about a fried piece of heaven. Enjoy!
