The 43rd Annual Mother’s Day Celebration at the Rio Grande Zoo
(May 9, 2016)—For as long as I can remember, my family has gone to the Rio Grande Zoo (Now Called the ABQ Bio Park). As for many other families, they have done the same. Yesterday’s 43rd annual Mother’s Day Celebration at the Rio Grande Zoo, was no different
Thousands of New Mexicans from far and wide, joined their Mother’s as they enjoyed the New Mexico’s Philharmonic, lead by conductor Roger Melone. Troves of mothers, children, uncles, and grandmothers alike flooded the grounds. Many enjoying the rhythmic melodies as they strolled through the parks endless maze of animal exhibits.
Over the years the Zoo has undergone such a transition, if you were to compare it to the grounds 20 years ago there are only a few exhibits that still remain the same. Having opened it’s doors in 1927, the Rio Grande Zoo has surely transformed into something amazing in the last 89+ years.
If you haven’t had the chance to enjoy the Rio Grande Zoo/ ABQ Bio Park, then you’ll surely love the atmosphere. Comparatively, it rivals big city zoo’s, so you won’t want to miss it if you’re traveling to the Land of Enchantment.
