The Albuquerque Box Explained

I actually had no clue that this phenomenon existed till the 2015 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is an annual event held every year in Albuquerque, New Mexico, that showcases over 750 hot air balloons, the first week of every October. It is also known to be the most photographed event in the world.

The Albuquerque Box is a set of weather patterns that allow the balloonists to navigate toward the south, in lower elevations, and navigate toward the north in higher elevations, allowing the balloons to circle the balloon fiesta property in the sky, giving you the best balloon watching experience.
