(June 24, 2016)—Happy Friday everyone! I hope you folks have stayed cool this week in this incredible heat. I had the pleasure of dining at a lovely and very nicely air conditioned restaurant for lunch yesterday—The Grove. Now, we here at I Am New Mexico tend to focus our reviews on New Mexican food, but there truly are some wonderful non-New Mexican food options out there as well. If you’re in the mood for something a little bit different from the norm, The Grove is the perfect place to try.
Located just east of downtown, The Grove offers a large dining room as well as two separate outdoor seating areas to choose from for your dining pleasure. Once you walk in, you are met with a lovely assortment of delicacies, including cookbooks, and fancy, imported candies and chocolates. Once you get your fill of those, you look up and see a beautifully detailed menu, which includes breakfast and lunch options (they also have a beer and wine license, for those folks that enjoy an ice cold mimosa on a hot Sunday afternoon). Their menu boasts local ingredients and farm fresh options, and the taste of the food absolutely proves this. Their philosophy on their website states that they use “local and organic produce, all natural meats, artisan breads and cheeses.” I ordered the poached eggs with prosciutto, asparagus and parmesan from their breakfast menu, and it was positively delicious. Oh, and can we please talk about the cupcake that I ordered to-go? I would totally offer to share it, but seeing as I am currently a hungry pregnant person, taking food away from me is probably not advisable. But, if you hurry they may still have some left! If you have yet to try The Grove, I highly recommend it. It’s the perfect atmosphere for a lazy Sunday brunch with the ladies, or a lively lunch break with co-workers. Just make sure to save room for dessert.
