LOS ALAMOS, NM—Beginning on May 23, Atomic City Transit will begin shuttle service between Bandelier National Monument and the White Rock Visitor Center seven days a week until Oct. 12, 2015.
Because Bandelier is a “car free park,” vehicles are not allowed into the monument between 9 a.m.–4:40 p.m. from May 23–Oct. 12. Riding the shuttle to Bandelier is required for park entry with the exception of those with: a pet in the car; official business at the monument; backcountry camping access; or handicap access.
Shuttle service from White Rock picks up every half hour throughout the day beginning at 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; and every 20 minutes from 9 a.m.–4:40 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Likewise, service from Bandelier takes place every half hour from 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday and every 20 minutes from 9:30 a.m.–5:10 p.m.
Shuttle riders will need to bring a photo ID if they are using a park entry pass. Visitors can download the ACTracker app which provides real-time information route information including arrival and departure times. This season’s schedule is also available on the losalamosnm.us/transit page.
The shuttles are a partnership between Atomic City Transit, Los Alamos County, and Bandelier National Monument.

Bandelier National Monument has several events over the Memorial Day weekend scheduled including: craft demonstrations and night sky programs with moonlight walks on May 23 and 24. Bandelier is open from 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Entry fees to the park are $6 for a 7-day single entry permit or $12 for a vehicle permit.
The White Rock Artist Market also takes place in White Rock from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. featuring arts and crafts for sale by local artists. Fuller Lodge Art Center in Los Alamos will be hosting an opening reception for the exhibit, “Eye Spy” from 5–7 p.m. on May 22.
